The article summarizes the economic effects of the digital transformation of Ukraine’s research system within the broader framework of the knowledge economy. The relevance of the study is driven by infrastructural gaps in the research sector, fragmentation of scientific data, and uneven levels of digital competencies, which increase transaction costs in research and experimental development (R&D) activities and reduce the return on investment in R&D. The methodological framework is based on systemic and comparative analysis, the development of a set of indicators reflecting the availability of research infrastructure (equipment, software, and human capital), and an analytical model of digital impact channels on research performance. These channels include increased productivity, reduced project cycle duration, improved reproducibility of results, expanded scientific collaboration, and the advancement of open data practices. The study substantiates that key priorities should include the development of national digital platforms and repositories for shared access to research outputs and data, the digitalization of R&D project portfolio management, and the systematic enhancement of data literacy as a core competence for researchers and science administrators. The practical value of the research lies in the proposed matrix of indicators and its application options for monitoring progress in digital transformation and supporting evidence-based budgetary and institutional decision-making.
