Authorship and Contributor Roles Policy (CRediT Taxonomy)
The Journal implements a standardized approach to authorship attribution and contributor recognition based on the international CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). This approach ensures transparency, proper recognition of each contributor’s role, and compliance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
1. Principles of Authorship
Authorship is granted only to individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. All authors must:
- participate in the conception of the study, research design, data collection, or data analysis;
- contribute to writing or critically revising the manuscript;
- approve the final version of the manuscript;
- accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the research results.
Individuals who do not meet these criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section but should not be listed as authors.
2. CRediT Contributor Roles Taxonomy
Authors are required to clearly specify their individual contributions using the CRediT Taxonomy. One author may perform multiple roles.
The principal contributor roles include:
- Conceptualization – formulation of research ideas and objectives;
- Methodology – development of the research methodology;
- Software – software development and programming;
- Validation – verification of results and reproducibility;
- Formal Analysis – application of analytical or statistical techniques;
- Investigation – conducting research and collecting data;
- Resources – provision of materials, resources, or data;
- Data Curation – management and preparation of research data;
- Writing – Original Draft – preparation of the initial manuscript draft;
- Writing – Review & Editing – revision and editing of the manuscript;
- Visualization – preparation of visual materials and data presentation;
- Supervision – scientific supervision and oversight;
- Project Administration – project management and coordination;
- Funding Acquisition – acquisition of financial support.
3. Author Contribution Statement
To standardize the reporting of author contributions, the Journal uses the following interactive checklist:
Download the EASE Interactive Checklist for Submitting Authors (Ukrainian Version)
Authors are required to complete this document and submit it together with the manuscript.
Example:
Author Contributions: Conceptualization – A.B.; Methodology – A.B., V.H.; Formal Analysis – V.H.; Writing – Original Draft – A.B.; Writing – Review & Editing – all authors.
4. Equal Contribution
If two or more authors contributed equally to the research and manuscript preparation, this may be explicitly stated in the Author Contributions Statement.
Examples:
“Authors A.B. and V.H. contributed equally to this research and publication.”
or
“All authors contributed equally to the conceptualization of the study, analysis of results, and preparation of the manuscript.”
In cases of equal contribution, authors must still specify their individual roles according to the CRediT Taxonomy.
5. Author Responsibilities
All authors share responsibility for the content of the publication. The corresponding author is responsible for:
- ensuring the correct identification of all authors;
- obtaining consent from all co-authors;
- providing accurate information regarding contributions and conflicts of interest;
- maintaining communication with the Editorial Office.
6. Changes in Authorship
Any changes to the list of authors (addition, removal, or reordering of authors) after manuscript submission are permitted only with:
- written consent from all authors;
- a justified explanation for the proposed changes.
The Editorial Office reserves the right to request supporting documentation.
7. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
The Journal does not permit:
- honorary (guest) authorship;
- ghost authorship;
- failure to acknowledge substantial contributions to the research.
If such violations are identified, the manuscript may be rejected or the published article may be retracted in accordance with COPE recommendations.
