Publication Ethics
The Editorial Board of the journal Current Problems of Sustainable Development follows internationally recognized standards of publication ethics, including principles of integrity, confidentiality, publication oversight, conflict of interest management, and other ethical aspects of scholarly publishing.
In its activities, the Editorial Office adheres to the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and, in particular, the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit (PERK) developed by Elsevier.
The Editorial Board adheres to the following principles of publication ethics:
- upholding the fundamental principles of scholarly publishing: scientific rigor, objectivity, professionalism, and support for significant innovative research;
- maintaining fairness, respect, and impartiality toward all participants in the publication process;
- applying double-blind peer review and engaging qualified, objective, and independent reviewers;
- providing continuous guidance to authors to ensure compliance with international publishing standards and indexing requirements.
PUBLICATION DECISIONS
The Editor is responsible for making decisions regarding the publication of submitted manuscripts. Such decisions are based solely on the scholarly merit of the manuscript, its relevance to the journal’s scope, and the recommendations of reviewers. The Editor complies with applicable regulations concerning defamation, copyright infringement, plagiarism, and publication ethics.
Editors shall not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent. Editors are responsible for addressing ethical complaints concerning submitted manuscripts and taking appropriate actions when necessary.
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political views of the authors.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD
- to treat authors and their scholarly work with fairness, respect, and professionalism while maintaining editorial confidentiality;
- not to alter the author's text without consultation and approval of the final edited version by the author(s);
- not to accept for publication manuscripts lacking scientific merit, falling outside the journal’s scope, conflicting with editorial policies, containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, or previously published material;
- to ensure the involvement of competent and objective reviewers and to apply a double-blind peer-review process.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS
- to evaluate all manuscripts objectively and without bias;
- to comply with the review deadlines established by the Editorial Office;
- to treat manuscripts received for review as confidential documents and not disclose them to third parties;
- not to use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal benefit;
- to provide objective, constructive, evidence-based, and respectful assessments of the research presented.
Reviewers must immediately inform the Editorial Office if they identify any conflict of interest related to the manuscript or its authors. If a manuscript falls outside the reviewer’s area of expertise, the reviewer should promptly notify the Editorial Office.
Reviewers are also required to report any suspected research misconduct, ethical violations, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other breaches of publication ethics.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS
- to ensure the novelty, accuracy, reliability, and originality of the research results;
- to provide accurate citations and references for all materials used from other sources;
- to avoid plagiarism, excessive borrowing, duplicate publication, and self-plagiarism;
- to guarantee that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
By submitting a manuscript to Current Problems of Sustainable Development, authors agree that, if accepted for publication, the article may be included in electronic databases and repositories, provided that authorship attribution and copyright protection are fully preserved.
The manuscript must contain appropriate references to all external sources of information, including the authors’ previously published works. Authors are required to properly acknowledge all borrowed materials through citations and references.
If significant errors, inaccuracies, or other circumstances affecting the reliability of published findings are identified after publication, the author(s) must immediately notify the Editorial Office and cooperate in the publication of corrections, editorial notices, expressions of concern, or article retractions in accordance with the Journal’s editorial policies and COPE recommendations.
If the Editorial Office receives credible information from third parties regarding possible errors, breaches of academic integrity, or other issues affecting the scientific validity of a publication, the author(s) are required to provide explanations, supporting documentation, and full cooperation during the editorial investigation in accordance with the Journal’s procedures.
