Abstract

The article examines the role and importance of cross-cultural communication as one of the key tools for conducting negotiations in the process of carrying out foreign economic activities of enterprises in the conditions of globalization and the growth of international economic interaction. Attention is focused on the fact that the effectiveness of international negotiations largely depends not only on the economic interests of the parties and the legal support of contracts, but also on taking into account the cultural differences of partners, the peculiarities of national behavior patterns, values, norms of business etiquette and communication styles. The work systematizes scientific approaches to the interpretation of the concept of « cross-cultural communication» and its place in the management system of the enterprise’s foreign  economic activity is determined. The influence of cultural factors on the process of preparing and conducting negotiations is revealed, in particular such elements as the perception of time, hierarchy, power, collectivism and individualism, the context of communication, as well as the peculiarities of management decision-making in different countries. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of typical barriers of cross-cultural communication in international negotiations, including language difficulties, different interpretations of verbal and non-verbal signals, stereotypes, prejudices and differences in business traditions. It is substantiated that ignoring these factors can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the negotiation process, the emergence of conflicts and the disruption of foreign economic agreements. The article offers practical recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of cross-cultural communication in the activities of enterprises participating in foreign economic relations, in particular by developing intercultural competence of personnel, implementing specialized trainings, using cultural profiles of partner countries and adapting negotiation strategies to the national characteristics of counterparties. It was concluded that cross-cultural communication is an important strategic resource of the enterprise, which contributes to the formation of long-term partnerships, increasing competitiveness and successful integration into the international economic space.
