MECHANISMS FOR ENSURING FOOD SECURITY OF TERRITORIES IN THE PARADIGM OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article examines the mechanisms for ensuring food security of territories within the paradigm of sustainable development. The relevance of the research is determined by modern global challenges, including climate change, economic instability, disruptions of food supply chains, and the consequences of military actions in Ukraine. Under such conditions, ensuring a stable and reliable food system becomes one of the key priorities of national and regional development. The study substantiates the interrelationship between the development of rural territories and the level of food security of the state. Rural areas are considered the main spatial basis for agricultural production, which determines the availability, accessibility, and stability of food supply. The paper identifies the key components of sustainable rural development, including economic, social, and environmental dimensions, and analyzes their influence on the formation of a resilient agri-food system. Special attention is paid to the role of modernization of the agro-industrial complex, digital transformation of agriculture, the development of processing industries, improvement of rural infrastructure, and strengthening of human capital in rural areas. These factors contribute to increasing productivity, improving the efficiency of resource use, and strengthening the resilience of food systems under conditions of economic and environmental uncertainty. The importance of state support mechanisms, stimulation of agricultural cooperation, development of local food markets, and implementation of innovative technologies in agricultural production is substantiated. It is argued that a comprehensive approach to rural development that integrates economic growth, social welfare, and environmental sustainability creates the foundation for strengthening territorial food security and ensuring long-term sustainable development
