In today’s digitalization and spread of remote work, the productivity of IT teams in a virtual environment is becoming a key factor in their effectiveness. Virtual teams operate in an environment characterized by spatial and temporal decentralization, asynchrony of communications, dependence on digital technologies, and employee autonomy. This leads to a transformation of management approaches - from traditional control to integrated strategies focused on results, digital support, and human potential development. In the article the author substantiates the model of strategic management of the productivity of virtual IT teams, which is based on the integration of three interrelated components: performance, process- digital, and human-centric. The performance component ensures the focus of management through OKR and KPI systems, which allow for the coordination of individual, team, and organizational tasks. Process-digital - involves the use of flexible methodologies (Agile, Kanban), digital platforms, and analytical tools, which increases transparency, efficiency, and validity of management decisions. The human-centric component is focused on the development of digital, communicative and managerial competencies, motivation, trust and psychological safety, which reduces professional burnout and staff turnover.
The integration of components is ensured through a mechanism for coordinating strategic guidelines, digital tools and human potential development. For the practical implementation of the model, management tools and potential risks have been identified, the minimization of which contributes to increased stability and long-term efficiency. The integrated application of strategic approaches – the implementation of result-oriented management systems, digital platforms, flexible methodologies, optimization of communications and development of personnel competencies – is an effective way to increase the productivity of virtual IT teams. The proposed model has practical significance for IT companies and organizations operating in a remote or hybrid format, and promotes the sustainable development of teams in a dynamic digital environment.
